Darren Cordova is a Principal Engineer in the Water Rights group at MBK Engineers. Darren joined MBK in 2002, and has extensive experience with negotiating and implementing water transfers in California. In the field of water supply and water transfers, Darren analyzes complex water distribution systems to determine quantities from diverse supplies and provides technical expertise to clients needing assistance in resolving complex water transfer issues and obtaining approvals from agencies. Darren has worked on behalf of Sacramento and San Joaquin Valley water users to complete transfers with other water users, the California Department of Water Resources, and the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation. This work includes developing transfer terms, preparing and filing water right change applications, monitoring and accounting for water transferred, and reporting water transfer details to involved parties.
Darren has also developed water management plans for major water agencies in the Sacramento Valley and in the Klamath Basin. His recent projects include efforts to implement through-Delta Water Transfers and the Conaway Preservation Group/Woodland-Davis Clean Water Agency assignment of water. In the area of Water Rights, Darren specializes in research and analysis specifically relative to post-1914 appropriative water rights, pre-1914 and riparian water rights and claims, and water supply contracts.
