10 Questions with Wesley Walker

How did you get into engineering?
My dad and grandfather owned a construction company, so that got me interested in building things from a young age. I’ve always been interested in water, weather, and the natural world.

What is the best part of your job?
The best part of my job is getting a model to “work” or an accounting tool to “balance”. I also enjoy learning about different watersheds and water systems in California.

Would you rather go hang gliding or whitewater rafting?
Whitewater rafting.

What is something that a ton of people are obsessed with that you just don’t get the point of?
Reality TV, especially the shows my wife watches 😉

What’s something you’ve been meaning to try, but just haven’t gotten around to yet?
Back-country Skiing.

What’s the best thing that happened to you last week?
Ski vacation in Tahoe with friends.

Where would you spend all your time if you could?
The mountains, specifically the Eastern Sierra.

What do you do for your job?
I primarily work in the Systems Operations Group, working with all kinds of different models and water accounting tools. I get to work on projects/systems of all sizes, from the CVP/SWP system to Kimball Reservoir in Calistoga. I also get to do some work with the water rights group.

What fictional place would you most like to visit?
Middle Earth.

Where is the most interesting place you’ve been?
Peru.
