10 Questions with Chris Connor

If you suddenly became a master at woodworking, what would you make?
A couple rocking chairs, and a nice porch swing.

What’s something you’ve been meaning to try, but just haven’t gotten around to yet?
Skydiving — more specifically, base jumping. Even more specifically, Wing Suiting. I don’t know if I’ll ever get around to it, as I get older it sounds less like a good time than it did originally.

What’s worth spending more on to get the best?
Work boots, your bed, a lawyer?

What is something you think everyone should do at least once in their lives?
Fail hard and get back up.

What’s the best single day on the calendar?
Saturday.

What TV channel doesn’t exist but really should?
A channel dedicated to music videos 24/7, with no commercials or other content. Maybe we could call it Music Video Television? MVT for short.

What hobby would you get into if time and money were not an issue?
My hobbies take up all my time as it is, not sure I’d want to add another. I guess maybe flying planes.

What is the best part of your job?
Hearing positive comments come back from clients. Collaborating with colleagues to improve the efficiency of day-to-day tasks through organization and automation.

How did you get into engineering?
I studied Hydrology at UC Davis, so my background is more interdisciplinary, but I’ve always been interested in how things work.

What do you do for your job?
Currently, I am covering the programming and GIS needs for the water rights department, but I am also available to other departments if assistance is needed.
