DWR Water Available for Replenishment Report

MBK Engineers provided technical support, guidance, and assistance to DWR’s Division of Statewide Integrated Water Management in preparing the Water Available for Replenishment (WAFR) Report as required by the 2014 Sustainable Groundwater Management Act. MBK worked as an integral part of the DWR team to develop the technical approach for estimating WAFR for all ten hydrologic regions in the state, compiled data, researched available information related to water rights, diversions, and water use. MBK also assisted in writing sections of the WAFR Report including significant portions of the chapter on the reliability of State Water Project and Central Valley Project contract supplies through time. Analysis of SWP and CVP reliability provides Groundwater Sustainability Agencies (GSAs) with SWP and CVP contracts a basis to estimate those supplies in the preparation of water budgets and Groundwater Sustainability Plans (GSPs). MBK also drafted significant portions of the technical appendices to the report that provide roadmaps and guidance to GSAs as they consider projects to make water available for replenishment during preparation of GSPs.
