Position Description
Under general supervision, the Water Resources Associate performs complex nonprofessional engineering tasks in support of levee improvement and flood control projects. In this role you will:
- Assist in the preparation of engineering reports, permit applications, project and/or technical reports, memos, schedules and budgets.
- Assist in the preparation of written and verbal presentations.
- Represent MBK at client and public meetings, as directed.
- Attend site visits and assist with field inspections and data collection.
- Coordinate with local agencies, contractors, and consultants to ensure project milestones are met.
- Track project progress, manage documentation, and help prepare status reports.
- Help manage project communications, including meeting minutes, stakeholder updates, and internal coordination.
- Monitor compliance with environmental regulations, safety standards, and project specifications.
- Assist in procurement and contract administration tasks.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering, water resources planning, environmental management, or a closely related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with project management software (e.g., MS Project, or similar)
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a small team environment.
- Must be able to perform duties on job sites in and around waterways in the Central Valley and Delta regions.
Preferred
- Familiarity with levee systems, flood control, or environmental permitting.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations related to levee and flood control projects (e.g., USACE, FEMA, DWR).
- Familiarity with CEQA/NEPA processes.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role.

The hourly rate for this position depends on experience. The range is: $30 - $45
