Responsibilities & Development Opportunities
MBK Engineers is seeking a motivated individual to join the firm. The primary duties of this position consist of:
- Performing and leading hydrology studies and analyses across various watershed scales and geographic locations;
- Prototyping and evaluating operating rules, including Forecast Informed Reservoir Operations (FIRO), with simulation models for water control manual updates of multipurpose reservoirs;
- Mentoring and developing positive relationships with junior team members interested in advancing the community of practice and serving a progressive and supportive client base with shared values;
- Researching and applying evolving technologies and identifying potential for improvements in task execution and engineering practice, specifically targeting items that promote accuracy and scalability of our work and its effective documentation;
- Developing core modeling expertise (e.g., HEC-ResSim) to facilitate contribution to team assignments;
- Understanding capabilities of and effectively utilizing administrative staff to execute assignments.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in civil, agricultural, computer science, environmental or water resources engineering, hydrology, or a related field and 3 to 10 years of experience in the water resources field is required;
- California Professional Engineer registration or ability to obtain within one year is required;
- Familiarity with California water systems, regulations, and policies;
- Proficiency or willingness to learn programming languages and modeling software.
Direct experience with this specific engineering discipline, while desired, is not required for employment consideration. We are willing to train candidates with transferable experience and skills from adjacent areas of work.

Salary/Wages for Positions:
The annual salary for this position depends on experience: the range is: $110,578 to $170,843.
